Manteigaria

Rua do Loreto 2, 1200-242  Lisbon

Manteigaria was out first stop in the Chiado district just a few steps from Largo de Camões. The current owner renovated this beautiful building which reopened in 2014 keeping the original art noveau facade and marble walls inside. The secret of Manteigaria’s success is the artisanal production of the custard tarts; quality ingredients, no preservatives and the process by which the flaky pastry is kneaded and folded by hand. Visitors to the shop can see the pastry chefs making the tarts through a glass window. When you hear the bell ring this means a fresh batch has just come out of the oven.
