A Heaven Scent Gift from Portugal

Claus Porto a Portuguese soap is synonymous with beauty, tradition and old world Portugal. Scented bars of sudsy joy each hand packed and wax sealed with the Claus Porto insignia.

The story of Claus Porto began in 1887 when Georges Schweder and Ferdinand Claus set about the manufacture of superior soaps. They rapidly gained international recognition. After the First World War the company changed hands and reemerged under the management of its former book-keeper, Achilles Alves de Brito. He  was responsible for bringing the packaging design in-house. This was a key act given that many of the company’s most celebrated graphics were created during this period. Musgo real soap.

In the early 1990’s Achilles de Brito’s great grand children, Aquiles and Sónia start a new chapter in the company. They take Claus Porto’s products into the luxury goods market in the US, Canada and England.  Developing new products alongside its classic lines, Claus Porto now specialises in candles, cosmetics, stationery and scents using their knowledge of fragrance, natural materials and luxury living.
