Peso da Régua or simply Régua as it is called by locals, is the region’s largest riverside town. Set in the surrounding countryside are some of the best quintas in Douro, country estates producing port. Régua makes for a convenient base for your Douro Valley wine tour, a Douro river cruise, or a scenic Douro Valley train ride.
Located in town close to the railway station on the banks of the river making it ideal for a Douro Valley boat tour. There are 67 bedrooms and 10 suites with A/c, free wifi and satillite TV. Quinta do Vallado, built in 1716, is one of the oldest and best quintas in the Douro Valley. It is located about 10 minutes away by car from the town of Régua. Pinhão is located in the heart of the Douro about 27 km from Régua, in the upper Douro Valley. This small town is attractively set by a broad stretch of the river and is a perfect place to stay if you are visiting the Douro Valley wine region. The wonderful Porto to Douro Valley train – one of the country’s most spectacular routes passes through Pinhão Douro.
This 18th century wine lodge was part of the port makers, Taylor’s estate. They converted it into one of the best Douro luxury hotels. All rooms have balconies providing breathtaking views over the Douro River and surrounding vineyards. There is a beautiful swimming pool beside the river and a wine shop specialising in the best of the region. It is one of our favourite places to stay in Douro for views, and one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had!

This family run budget hotel is conveniently located just opposite the train station. The 14 rooms are basic and bright with A/c, private bathroom, and free wifi. Front rooms have a balcony with views of the river and vineyards.

Provesende is an unspoilt village high in the Alto Douro wine region approminately 11 km north of Pinhão. The surrounding countryside has some of the best views of the region.
Provesende’s most notable attraction is the 17th century manor house – Morgadio da Calçada. The rich history inside includes the original coloured ceilings and lots of antiques.
